Omni presents at ABBA National Conference
Omni partners Eric Zabilka and Chad Gallas presented at the 2026 Air Barrier Association of AmericaNational Convention on May 6, sharing insights from the firm’s ongoing research into high-performance building enclosures.
Titled “Keeping the Water Out: In Search of a Caulk-Free Building,” the session explored a fundamental challenge in architecture: how to design and construct building envelopes that resist water intrusion over the long term—without relying on sealants as the primary line of defense. Drawing from years of experience across higher education, workforce training, and complex renovation projects, Eric and Chad examined both the successes and failures that have informed their approach to durable, resilient envelope design.
The presentation highlighted strategies that prioritize layered defense systems, robust detailing, and constructability—reducing long-term maintenance demands and improving building performance. Attendees gained practical insights into how thoughtful design decisions, early coordination, and rigorous quality control during construction can contribute to more reliable, long-lasting building enclosures.
This session built on Omni’s broader commitment to technical excellence and knowledge sharing, reflecting the firm’s belief that high-performing buildings begin with a deep understanding of how materials, assemblies, and construction practices work together over time.
