Omni Architects to Present at 2025 AIA KY/AIA IN Convention
This September, Omni Architects will take the stage at the 2025 AIA KY / AIA IN Convention in Lexington to present a session that addresses one of the most persistent vulnerabilities in modern building design: caulk.
Titled "Keeping the Water Out: In Pursuit of a Caulk-Free Building," Omni president Eric Zabilka, AIA, will deliver the session, which explores a crucial question in high-performance architecture—how can we create resilient, watertight envelopes without relying on sealants as the main defense?
As building envelopes become increasingly complex and the demands for energy efficiency, durability, and occupant health continue to grow, Omni’s team will share valuable lessons and practical solutions derived from real-world experience. The session will examine successful case studies, lessons learned from failures, and evolving detailing strategies that emphasize long-term performance and measurable results.
From new materials to innovative construction methodologies, the presentation aims to spark conversation and inspire design professionals to rethink envelope detailing with fewer weak points and greater resilience.
