Omni Architects' Nick Abend Selected for AIA Kentucky's Christopher Kelley Leadership Development Program

Omni Architects is proud to announce that Nick Abend, Associate AIA, has been selected to participate in the 2026–2027 class of AIA Kentucky's Christopher Kelley Leadership Development Program (CKLDP). The program provides emerging architectural professionals with opportunities to develop leadership skills, strengthen professional relationships, and prepare for expanded roles within their firms, the profession, and their communities.

Since joining Omni Architects in 2019, Nick has demonstrated a commitment to design excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. A 2019 graduate of the University of Kentucky's Master of Architecture program, he has steadily expanded his responsibilities, contributing to projects for the University of Kentucky, Northern Kentucky University, and Elizabethtown Community & Technical College.

Nick's leadership extends beyond traditional project responsibilities. He has played an important role in advancing Omni's digital design and visualization capabilities, exploring new technologies, improving production workflows, and championing the use of 3D printing and physical model-making as tools for communicating design ideas. Equally important, he actively shares his knowledge with colleagues, mentors younger staff, and encourages a collaborative approach to problem-solving.

His professional growth has also been evident in his project leadership. On a recent project for Northern Kentucky University, Nick served independently as both lead designer and construction administration project manager, successfully navigating the demands of a complex, design-intensive project. His professionalism, responsiveness, and ability to develop thoughtful solutions earned praise from the University's project management team.

Beyond the office, Nick remains engaged with Kentucky's architectural community through AIA events, student mentorship, university design reviews, and professional networking activities. His commitment to supporting emerging designers reflects Omni's philosophy of operating as a teaching practice, where knowledge sharing, mentorship, and professional development are integral to the firm's culture.

Nick joins several Omni colleagues who have participated in the Christopher Kelley Leadership Development Program, continuing the firm's commitment to cultivating the next generation of architectural leaders. Through CKLDP, he hopes to broaden his understanding of firm leadership, business development, and civic engagement while building meaningful relationships with fellow professionals throughout Kentucky.

Omni Architects congratulates Nick on his selection and looks forward to seeing how his experience contributes to his continued professional growth, strengthens our practice, and advances the architectural profession across the Commonwealth.
