JCTC Center for Science and Discovery Nears Completion—Students Set to Begin Classes After Fall Break
Omni Architects is excited to announce that construction of the Center for Science and Discovery at Jefferson Community and Technical College (Jefferson) is approaching the finish line. This transformational STEM facility, located on Jefferson’s downtown Louisville campus, will welcome students into its classrooms and laboratories following the 2025 Fall Break.
Designed to support Jefferson’s growing science, technology, engineering, and math programs, the new Center features modern classrooms, advanced laboratories, and collaborative spaces that foster hands-on learning, innovation, and real-world application. It’s not only a major upgrade to the campus—it’s a powerful new resource for the region.
“This facility will elevate the student experience, attract new talent to Jefferson, and strengthen our state’s STEM workforce,” said Jody Boelhauf, AIA, principal at Omni Architects. “We’re proud to be part of this investment in the future of Kentucky’s students and communities.”
The Center for Science and Discovery is also a model for sustainable design. Omni Architects worked closely with Jefferson and the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) to incorporate environmentally responsible building practices throughout the project, creating a space that supports both academic excellence and long-term stewardship.
As Erin Ruhl, AIA, project manager, notes: “Our goal was to create an inspiring environment that reflects Jefferson’s mission and values—one that promotes curiosity, collaboration, and innovation at every turn.”
With final touches underway and opening day around the corner, the Center for Science and Discovery is poised to become a new cornerstone of STEM education in Kentucky. Stay tuned for more as students step into this dynamic new space later this fall.
