Omni Architects receives multiple design awards

2021 Wall
Omni Architects received an unprecedented number of Awards for Design Excellence during the AIA Kentucky/Indiana convention in September.
The Awards Program, which is juried by esteemed architects from other states, seeks to honor and bring to public attention distinctive works of architecture created by Kentucky AIA Architect members. The awards recognize and applaud works of architecture exhibiting design excellence and promoting public awareness and appreciation of Kentucky Architecture's diversity, quality, and scope. The Kentucky Society’s “Honor Award for Achievement of Excellence in Architectural Design” is the highest professional honor bestowed upon a Kentucky architect by his or her peers, and it distinguishes the architect as one who is dedicated to making architecture the best it can be. Of the nine awards presented this year, Omni Architects received one award in each category, for a total of four honors:

University of Kentucky Gatton Student Center, Honor Award
Eastern Kentucky University New Science Building, Merit Award
Council of State Governments Headquarters Building Renovation, Citation Award
Centenary United Methodist Church, 25-Year Award

New to the program in 2021, the 25-Year Award recognizes a Kentucky building constructed before 1996 that is still being used for its original purpose. The award recognizes projects of distinction that add value to their communities and have retained their original design intent. Initially completed in 1992, the Centenary United Methodist Church has remained in continuous use by its congregation with no changes to its original design. The building received an AIA Kentucky Honor Award for Design Excellence in 1994.
The four awards received during the 2021 program further secure Omni Architects' distinction of being the most award-winning architectural firm in Kentucky, with a total of 31 AIA Kentucky Awards for Design Excellence.
