The Shumaker Research Building provides a multi-user core facility for microtechnology research, education, and technology transfer at the University of Louisville and throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Applications include microelectronics, MEMS, bioMEMS, biotechnology, chemical microsystems, medical sensors, micro-actuators, molecular microdevices, biomechanics, bioengineering, computer-based computational research, theoretical and applied physics, nanotechnology, and other miniature applications.
The facility also includes a 10,000 SF cleanroom facility for Lithography, Deposition, Dry Etch and Wet Processes, and Alternative Microfabrication Techniques. The new facility is a state-of-the-art environment for the characterization and validation of analytical models through research in both medical and physical sciences and serves as a catalyst for high-tech startup businesses in the state. This project was completed in collaboration with Stubbins Associates.
