When completed in 2011, Eastern Kentucky University’s New Science Building will house the departments of Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Physics and Astronomy, Science Education, and the Division of Natural Areas. The new building will include teaching laboratories, faculty and student research laboratories, classrooms, seminar rooms, faculty and student organization offices, greenhouses, a vivarium, and a cleanroom. A key design objective is to create public spaces that display the sciences and encourage interaction between the departments and the wider community.
Omni’s responsibilities include campus master planning, site selection, programming, full design services, infrastructure upgrades, equipment selection and purchasing, and furniture selection. Omni Architects is also working closely with the Commissioning Agent to ensure that the new facility is fully operational by move-in.
