The Sisters of Charity established their current campus in 1822 consisting of fifteen buildings which house a variety of uses including educational and medical services as well as a home for two hundred retired sisters.
Omni was asked to provide suitable housing for the most elderly of the Sisters. During the design process, it was observed that without exception, each of the campus buildings reflected the period in which it was built. Therefore, the Sisters proposed that the building should reflect the present with an acknowledgement towards the existing context. The response was a new building occupying a north-south oriented site at the eastern end of the complex.
The upper three floors of the four-story structure house fifty-seven residence suites for the Sisters as well as common kitchen, laundry, community and chapel spaces. The north end of the residence floors feature full-height glazed sunrooms for gathering, reflection and indoor gardening.
