The University of Louisville Shumaker Research Building provides a multi-user core facility for microtechnology research, education, and technology transfer at the university and throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Applications include microelectronics, MEMS, bioMEMS, biotechnology, chemical microsystems, medical sensors, micro-actuators, molecular microdevices, biomechanics, bioengineering, computer-based computational research, theoretical and applied physics, nanotechnology, and other miniature applications.
The facility also includes a 10,000 SF cleanroom facility for Lithography, Deposition, Dry Etch and Wet Processes, and Alternative Microfabrication Techniques. The new facility is a state-of-the-art environment for the characterization and validation of analytical models through research in both medical and physical sciences and serves as a catalyst for high-tech startup businesses in the state. This project was completed in collaboration with Stubbins Associates.
